Brickfield Rangers v Corwen FCClywedog ParkSaturday 26th August 2017, 2:30pm KO

Brickfield Rangers welcome Corwen FC to Clywedog Park this weekend for Game Five in the Welsh National Premier League 2017/18.

Rangers bounced back from two difficult results to beat Cefn Albion on Tuesday evening and Simon Sedgwick will be expecting the lads to kick on from that result.

"We've had an indifferent run of late with the draw against Llay and the defeat to Chirk but Tuesday's win at Cefn was a much needed confidence booster and hopefully we can kick on from here" said Sedge.

Corwen have had an indifferent start to the campaign aswell amassing six points from their first four games winning their first two against Harwarden Rangers and Chirk AAA before back to back defeats to Mold Alex and Llanuwchllyn and they will surely be fired up to get the points when they visit Clywedog.

"They had a great start with two huge wins, but recent narrow defeats leaves us in no doubt they will be fired up for the game. Its a game where we both need all three points to stay in touching distance of the top" said Director of Football Dave Norman.

The earliest mention of football in Corwen is their entry into the inaugural Welsh cup in 1877. In 2000 the club dropped 'Amateurs' from the name of the club, and are now known simply as Corwen Football Club.

2004 saw Corwen's First Team win the Division One League Cup after a win against Brymbo at Llangollen Town, after the disappointment of relegation from the Premier Division the previous season. They coupled this with promotion back to the Premier Division after finishing 3rd in the league.

In 2008 Corwen reached the F.A.W. Trophy final, where they lost 4-2 to fellow Welsh National League side Rhos Aelwyd at Cefn Druids ground. Corwen came through 3 penalty shoot outs on the way to the final. Corwen finished runners up in the 2010/11 Welsh National League Premier Division League Cup, after a 1-0 defeat to Gresford Athletic, the first to take place at Cefn Druids new ground 'The Rock'

They finished fourth in the league last season just four points behind Rangers.

Come along on Saturday and show your support to Sedge and the lads.
