Brickfield Rangers 3 - 1 Corwen FCSaturday 26th August 2017, 2:30pm

Brickfield Rangers secured all three points in a tense encounter at Clywedog Park as they go into the mini break.

Sedge's Rangers knew that three points were essential and an excellent second half performance ensured the deserved victory.

Rangers started tentatively almost going behind on 5 mins when a speculative shot came back of the crossbar with McCormick beaten.

Corwen's first half pressure though paid off on 26 minutes when Brickfield failed to clear their lines and the Corwen striker was on hand to put the ball away.

Injured Danny Barlow was replaced at half time by Kev Breeze and Breezy had an instant impact on the game. Corwen look to settle for the 0-1 win by going five at the back and this allowed Rangers more time on the ball in the attacking third.

On 51 minutes Rangers pressed and when the ball came out to Chris Boyes the full back unleashed a 30 yard drive high into the top of the net.

Then three minutes later a majestic passage of play instigated by Breeze was finished off by in form Sam Molyneux to give Rangers a derserved lead.

Rangers kept pressing and on 71 minutes Callum Humphreys defence splitting pass was duly finished off by Molyneux for his second and Rangers third.

Substitute Matthew Wareham almost made it four on 88 minutes. As Rangers saw out a much deserved victory against a strong Corwen FC.

Full Time - Brickfield Rangers 3 - 1 Corwen FC

Man of the Match - Nathan Davies

After the game Sedge had this to say "We needed to win today and we did. It was as expected a battle in the first half, but the forced change at half time and the set up change by Corwen played into our hands and we looked much more comfortable in the second forty-five. It's been a good week after last weeks results and hopefully we can kick on now after the International break".
